[12/12/2005]
The third issue of the e-journal on the University and Knowledge Society (RUSC), promoted by the UOC's UNESCO Chair in e-learning is now available for consultation. This issue includes the monographic "Use of digital content: information technologies, knowledge society and university", by Pablo Lara, professor of the Information and Communication Science Studies of the UOC. The objective of the monographic is to offer tools to solve problems in content management and design faced by teaching staff.

Currently, the area of content management is one of the most productive fields in terms of amount of research and innovations. In e-learning, content management represents a new arena within electronic learning. This monographic offers the reader situations and scenarios in content design and management faced by teaching, management and research staff in universities.

The monographic includes the collaboration of Josep Maria Duart, coordinator of the UOC's UNESCO Chair in e-learning and professor of Psychology and Educational Science Studies; Sandra Sanz, professor of Information and Communication Science Studies; Jordi Serrano, professor of Innovation and Communication; Mildred Guinart, executive director of the Postgraduate program; and professors David Puente and Jordi Prats.

This issue also includes articles by Miguel Casas, professor of the University of Zulia (Venezuela); Antoni Badia, director and professor of Psychology and Educational Science Studies, and Elena Barberà , professor in the same department.

Marga Franco, coordinator of Postgraduate programs and projects, reviews the book Sustaining the New Economy. Work, Family, and Community in the Information Age, by Martin Carnoy. Additionally, Josep Maria Duart has written the editorial "Digital content in higher education".

RUSC

RUSC has as its objective the diffusion of analysis and research projects in fields such as the leadership of the university in the knowledge society, the management of change in these institutions based on virtual learning (e-learning), excellence and quality in online teaching and new educational models and teaching profiles, among others.

The vehicular language is Spanish, but the articles may also be published in English, Catalan and Portuguese, and the subscription is free.

Even though it comes out every six months, RUSC is updated periodically with the publication of new articles, which are submitted to an evaluation by experts (peer review): each article is evaluated by two or more experts on the topic, from either outside the e-journal or members of the editorial board.
