Cuadernos Livingstone is the first travel collection of Editorial UOC. The authors
tell in the first person their experience of a trip and say how it has influenced them. The works
are very much in the style of a travel diary where, besides offering readers their vision of the
country, they describe in essence the experience of their travel.
Some of the titles published in this collection are
Viajes y viajeros. La aventura de viajar. Desde los orígenes hasta nuestros días [Travels
and Travellers. The Adventure of Travelling. From its Origins to the Present Day], by David Rull
and Jordi Serrallonga;
Adiós, Gongtan. Un vaje en autobús, tren, taxi, barca, triciclo, moto y furgoneta por la China
central [Goodbye Gongtan. Travelling by Bus, Train, Taxi, Boat, Tricycle, Scooter and Van
Around Central China], by Jordi Pérez Colomé, and
Más allá del resort. Descubriendo República Dominicana [Beyond the Resort. Discovering the
Dominican Republic], by Santiago Tejedor.
With regard to the
Serie Major, it is a collection of essays that offer a reflection on current
affairs. They are books that reflect the life and experiences of the authors from a lively and
vital viewpoint. They are profound, fresh and direct essays that not only entertain but seek to
make the reader think.
The titles in this collection are
Máster en Manhattan. Memoria accidentada de una becaria en Nueva York [Master in
Manhattan. Accidental Memory of an Intern in New York], by Eva Domínguez;
Consultorio ético. 70 casos de conciencia en la sociedad del cambio [Ethical Consultancy.
70 Cases of Conscience in the Society of Change], by Norbert Bilbeny, and
En la campaña de Obama. El movimiento que cambió la historia de Estados Unidos [On the
Obama Campaign. The Movement that Changed the History of the United States], by Jordi Pérez Colomé.
Lluis Pastor, General Manager of Editorial UOC, says that “the aim of our publishing
house is to distinguish itself through two key elements: one is its search for authors, young
talent linked to academia, but who have not yet been published in an informative context; we try to
serve as a platform for young professionals who want to get their ideas and knowledge across to the
public. A second differentiating element is the ability to convey experience, theses, ideas and
opinion. Our publications are filled with their own ideology and personal experience, a fact that
lends an air of truth and personality to non-fiction books,” concludes Pastor, who is also
Director of Information and Communication Science Courses at the UOC.
Niberta is a young and modern imprint, which transforms the journalistic chronicle into the
protagonist. It aims to offer a door on to current affairs, reflection, the scientific world and,
in particular, social intervention. There is also a desire to bring an informational, approachable
and fresh focus to non-fiction.
