The UOC's departments unveil their own sites on the portal
[18/12/2009]
Each of the UOC's six departments has unveiled their own sites on the UOC portal this month. Thus, for the first time, the UOC's Arts and Humanities; Information and Communication Sciences; Law and Political Science; Economics and Business Studies; IT, Multimedia and Telecommunications, and Psychology and Educational Sciences departments will have their own specific sites on the University's portal.

The new websites, which can be accessed via the About the UOC sub-portal, offer information on each of the departments, including their strategic goals, the courses on offer, the latest news, the agenda of events for each teaching area and a list of faculty. Likewise, the sites also have a section devoted to Dissemination and Publications. They can be viewed in Catalan and Spanish, and will soon also be available in English.

These sites can grow to meet the needs of the departments, thanks to the fact that they are based on an open-source content manager which allows for independent and decentralised management.

Project to renovate the portal

The content manager used by the new departmental websites has been introduced in a number of sections of the University’s website since the end of 2007 when the project to renovate the portal began.

Since then, sites have been created or remodelled, such as the international portal, or the sites for the International Graduate Institute, the eLearn Center, the UNESCO Chair in E-Learning, the Campus for Peace, the Bologna Area, the UOC’s technological model or the international networks. Furthermore, the UOC is also working to integrate the Training on Offer section and renovate both the Press Room and the President’s Office.
