The digital divide in higher education the focus for the seventh volume of RUSC
[20/01/2010]
The digital divide in higher education is the focus for the latest volume of the Revista de Universidad y Sociedad del Conocimiento (University and Knowledge Society Journal, RUSC). This UOC publication has now reached its seventh volume, which is to look at the question of universal access to ICT, focusing above all on that linked to university education.

In the journal’s dossier, a number of experts analyse different aspects, such as how to deal with the current digital divide or how this inequality is linked to students’ academic performance in developed countries. These and other reflections are offered alongside analysis of experiences in trying to overcome this divide, such as in the article on the policies introduced over the last ten years in a university institution in Tanzania.

The journal also includes a series of articles written by experts analysing different experiences and reflections on learning in the knowledge society. For example, they look at a range of initiatives and proposals including open educational resources, the experiences in distance learning at the University of A Coruña and a number of Andalusian universities, or the hybrid learning environments developed by the University of the Andes, among others.

RUSC
RUSC is an e-journal produced by the UOC eLearn Center published twice a year. Its aim is to disseminate works of analysis and research in the fields of knowledge society university leadership, change management in these institutions based on e-learning, excellence and quality in e-learning, and new educational models and teaching profiles, among other subjects. The contents of RUSC are published in Spanish, English, Catalan, Portuguese and French, and it is a fully open-access journal.
