These welcome sessions include explanations of what the validation tests and end-of-term exams are and how they are carried out, and of the continuous assessment and continuous assessment tests. Those attending can also find out about how to view their personal exam record, what the labels are and where to get hold of them, and how the marks are received and recorded. In terms of the UOC services, the sessions provide information on the regional network of support centres and the Virtual Library (which offers access to the University’s extensive catalogue). Finally, those attending are also reminded of the Help Service, which all UOC students can address when they have any doubts, queries or suggestions. These sessions represent a good chance to get to know other students starting up at the UOC at the same time.
